The European and African Centre for Research, Training and Development’s Migration Movement Monitoring Programme
Aims:
This is an on-going programme and it aims to monitor migration movements to, in and from Sudan. It also aims to monitor the treatment and needs of Sudanese returnees (deportees/voluntary return) and to produce regular reports.
Outcome:
To gather accurate information of immigrants entering Sudan (statistics, root causes/motivation, smuggling routes and methods) to:
- Have accurate statistics (nationality, ethnicity, gender, age).
- Identify the smuggling routes and methods.
- Identify root causes and motivation of migration
To collect information about Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and internal migration in Sudan to:
- Identify root causes
- Identify their needs
- Listen to IDP’s opinions and their preferred destinations
To collect information about migration from Sudan to:
- Identify root causes and motivation
- Identify type of migration and destinations.
- Identify the smuggling routes and methods.
- Identify the smugglers and their motivations
To gather information about Sudanese returnees (deportees and voluntary return) on:
- Procedures and treatment upon their arrival at the airport.
- Identify their immediate needs
- Identify their long term needs
